At Peter Hanley Motors Ltd, we were delighted to be awarded a Silver Medal at the Irish Family Business Awards for 2023! We have received many awards over the years but this one was particularly special for us, and to be sitting in the Mansion House in the company of many other family businesses was both exciting and humbling. It is a recognition, not just of our own family roots in the business, that are very important to us, but also to the family values that we used to build our company and that we embrace every day in both dealings with customers and our close-knit staff team. It confirms that Peter Hanley Motors is part of the wider family of local community and that we recognise the trust and loyalty that you can expect when dealing with a family-run company. Yeah, it was kind of a big deal for us! It was a wonderful night for Peter especially.
The Irish Family Business Awards are five years old now and they were started as a way to celebrate the many companies in this small island, that begin as ideas in kitchens and end up with the whole family working together. The awards look at the multi-generational family businesses like ourselves and notes how rooted these companies are in the community too. There is a familiarity and a trust that comes with dealing with a family run business. The Irish Family Business Awards sees the local family business and its survival as a way to ensure Irish businesses continue to grow and thrive.
In deciding on the winners for the family run business awards, the judges look at the passion and the pride in family values that each company displays and to the benefits that the company generates for the community. They examine the originality of service, the investment in staff and looks to see if the company can be an ambassador and an inspiration for family owned and run companies. We are very happy.
Congratulations to our neighbours at Kiernan Structural Steel, Longford who took home Gold in their category. Well deserved! We had our night of celebrating in Dublin and from the youngest to the oldest was there to receive our prize together.
We are back working today and its business as usual, but with a broader smile, a bit of a spring in our steps and our heads a little higher.
